Bibi Tiphane is a person who now qualifies for senior discount at the local movie theater, while challenging the gender binary.  They completed an M.A. in English at Notre Dame de Namur University after retiring from the computer world. They started writing short stories for the school’s review The Bohemian, and for their thesis, Heating Up the Fog, a collection of short stories.  They moved to Berkeley, where they discovered a richer cultural environment, and even a sewing studio where they can make new clothes for themselves…

Many years ago, they obtained an M.Sc. in Computer Science from Université de Montréal.  Their thesis was mostly about developing a system to translate computer documents to photocomposer commands, which led them to a complete redesign at a photocomposer maker in Switzerland (Bobst Graphic), where the team developed a word processor.  Many of the team moved on to start Logitech, from which Bibi retired.

They speak English and French, and were fluent in Italian and can get around in Spanish.  Other languages are just out for a fun experience (learning to read Hiragana right now as part of learning more Japanese).  Although they were an avid runner, they currently “walk fast” in the Non-Binary category!  Post-pandemic they became a regular student of Robin Nasatir’s Modern Dance classes at Shawl-Anderson Dance Center, making dance a favorite mode of expression and therapeutic modality.
